job interview

Interview Questions:

Why are you applying for this position?

If you applied for a position in the same occupational field or in the discipline you studied or one that matches your skills or the position is similar to what you have already done – then the answer to this interview question is relatively straight forward.

If the job you applied for does not coincide with the jobs you did previously, you must try and find those same areas that have common ground. For example, if you applied for a job as an Analyst in an Investment Bank and you worked in Sales before:

Interview question: Why did you apply for this position?

Interview answer:

  • "In my previous position in Sales I found that I was most interested in the economical aspects and financial models at work and so I decided to shift my career into that area."
  • "I have recently completed my studies in Economics and I am seeking a position that is within this discipline."
